Long Beach Celebrity Grand Prix To Kick Off April 16
LONG BEACH (CBS) — Actor Brian Austin Green will be racing with the pros when the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Grand Prix kicks off on April 16, it was announced Monday.
Green, the 2010 celebrity winner, will join the pros in the ear-splitting race through the streets of Long Beach, starting with qualifying rounds April 15.
Competing in the celebrity race, driving Scion tCs in a 10-lap race on a 1.97-mile circuit, will be:
-- Academy Award-winner Djimon Hounsou from "Amistad," "Gladiator" and "Blood Diamond"
-- Kevin Jonas of the Jonas Brothers band
-- Anthony Anderson of "Law and Order"
-- Jillian Barbiere of "Good Day LA"
-- former Ralph Lauren model and "Make Me a Supermodel" judge Tyson Beckford
-- Eddie Cibrian of "CSI: Miami"
-- Actor Kim Coates of "Sons of Anarchy," "Resident Evil: Afterlife" and "Pearl Harbor"
-- Stephen Moyer of "True Blood"
-- musician Kevin Eubanks of the "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno"
-- actor Dennis Haysbert of "The Unit," "24" and "Jarhead"
-- UFC light heavyweight Tito Ortiz and "The Ultimate Fighter"
-- Megyn Price from "Rules of Engagement"
-- and Baby Phat designer Kimora Lee Simmons.
Toyota donates $5,000 to Racing for Kids on behalf of each celebrity racer and another $5,000 to the winning racer's charity of choice.
Racing for Kids, a national nonprofit benefiting children's hospitals across the country, was created to connect sick children with their favorite celebrities and race-car drivers.
A $15,000 donation will be made as part of 14th annual "People Pole Award." Sponsored by People magazine, the award honors the pole-position winner of the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race qualifying session on April 15.
