Authorities ID Man Fatally Shot By Deputy In Altadena


ALTADENA (CBS/AP) — A man fatally shot by a Los Angeles sheriff's deputy was identified Sunday as a Pomona man.

The shooting, which occurred about 11:30 p.m. Friday, took place at New York Drive and Lake Avenue after deputies pulled over a car with two men inside, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Pope said.

According to authorities, 34-year-old Stephen Bullock took off running and was caught by deputies. Pope says as the suspect fought with deputies, he reached for a gun in his waistband and was shot.

City News Service reports that Bullock died at the scene.

Officials did not say why the car was pulled over or what happened to the other man.
