1 Killed In Crash On 5 Freeway Near Gorman

GORMAN (CBS) — A driver Sunday was killed in an collision involving two pickup trucks on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway near Pyramid Lake.

The crash, which took place just south of Vista Del Lago, occurred about 6:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

One person was declared dead at the scene and a helicopter took a critically injured person to a hospital.

Snow fell overnight along the Grapevine section of the freeway, though the interstate stayed open.

It was unclear if the weather played a role in the wreck, which triggered a secondary collision.

My family and I were caught in traffic related to the crash, and eventually drove past the wreckage (around an hour after the accident). I still have the tragic image in my mind, and wanted to see who might have lost their lives so I could put a name to my prayers for the individual(s) and loved ones. Your heartless and judgmental remark is shockingly dishonoring, distasteful and downright disturbing. Perhaps you need to do a little soul searching.

My condolences to the family and friends of the individual who lost his/her life. May he/she rest in peace.

I also wanted to note that the stock image chosen by CBS is rather thoughtless and sensationalistic. When someone loses their life, more care should be taken when reporting such an incident. If you’re going to use an image at all, just use a real photo!

I certainly hope the person who left the first comment is never in the situation my co-worker is, a grieving son who lost his father so unexpectedly.. His father was the person that was fatally wounded in this accident.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family.

To the first comment: you’re an insensitive jerk. What if this was your family member?

Sadly to say this was my uncle who passed away. Thank you for the other comments. It’s a tough time for my family right now because it was so sudden. We’ll get through it tho.
