LA PUENTE (CBS) — One person was killed and another has escaped after a house fire in the Bassett area of La Puente, near City of Industry, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said.

The blaze was reported at about 3:15 a.m. Friday and knocked down about 4:20 a.m. at the home in the 200 block of South Third Street in La Puente, officials said.

Firefighters found the duplex engulfed in flames and the body of a man in his 40s.

A woman who escaped the fire received burns to her face and was taken to a hospital.

Sheriff’s detectives were investigating the scene.
