Kayakers Stranded Inside LA River Channel
STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Several kayakers got stranded Friday at the side of the Los Angeles River and had to be helped up a steep embankment by firefighters.
Rescuers were sent to Vineland Avenue, north of Ventura Boulevard, at about noon, said Los Angeles Fire Department officials. The kayakers, who were uninjured, were helped to safety after about 45 minutes.
Officials say that it is illegal for anyone to trespass into a flood-control channel.
