Hunt Is On For Fake Cop Who Copped An Illegal Massage

SANTA ANA (CBS) —  Orange County sheriff's deputies might be feeling a bit of deja vu.

They are  looking for a man who walked into a Laguna Hills massage parlor and claimed to be a police officer before demanding an illegal massage.

Deputies want to question the man, who walked into the Laguna Hills massage parlor about 6:25 p.m., Jan. 28.

The incident was reminiscent of another one Jan. 31 in Lake Forest.

Edward La Porte, 47, of Mission Viejo, was accused of pretending to be a police officer at the Golden Spa massage parlor, 24342 Muirlands Blvd.

The former suburban Chicago police officer was arrested Feb. 2 at his Mission Viejo home, but he posted bail and charges have not been filed against him.

While getting the massage, the nude La Porte turned over and allegedly asked the masseuse to "massage my front," Jim Amormino, spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff's Department, said.

Sheriff's investigators do not think the incidents are connected.

In the second incident, the man told employees he was a police officer, showed them a badge or some sort of identification and told two female masseuses to sit down and not move because he had just received an illegal massage and was calling for back-up assistance.

When one of the massage business' employees asked to see his ID the man quickly left while ordering the masseuses to not move, according to the sheriff's department.

The man in the second incident is 5 feet 8 inches tall, and has a heavy build and a close-cropped hair cut.

Anyone with information on the case was asked to call sheriff's investigators at (714) 647-4110 or (714) 628-7170.
