Bruins Continue Surge, Beat Stanford At Maples Pavilion

STANFORD (AP) -- Reeves Nelson had 18 points and seven rebounds, Tyler Honeycutt scored 16 points and UCLA beat Stanford 69-65 on Thursday night to tie a season high with its sixth straight victory.

Joshua Smith added 13 points and nine rebounds to help the Bruins (19-7, 10-3 Pac-10) overcome a slow start, build a 16-point lead and hold on late.

UCLA held Stanford to 44 percent shooting and outrebounded the Cardinal 35-26 to stay one game back of
Arizona for the conference lead.

Jeremy Green had 27 points and Anthony Brown finished with 15 points for the Cardinal (13-12, 6-8), getting swept in the season series against UCLA and falling to another Pac-10 opponent on their home floor.

Stanford is a mediocre 4-4 this season at Maples Pavilion versus conference opponents.
