Roseanne Barr Goes Nuts

LOS ANGELES (CBS)  —  Comedian Roseanne Barr is back with a new unscripted series about her experiences running a Hawaiian macadamia nut and livestock farm for Lifetime.

The cable channel has ordered 16 half-hour episodes of the yet-to-be titled series.  "Roseanne Barr is an undeniable force of nature and the idea of following her in this unique premise excited us from the get-go," said network president and general manager Nancy Dubuc.

"Roseanne is funny and brutally honest, and our audience will relate to her decision to go on this adventure and create an entirely new life for herself."

The bestselling author and television star best known for her series Roseanne which ran until 1997,  just released a new book about her experience titled, Roseannearchy: Dispatches from the Nut Farm.  In it, Barr discusses the humor of everyday life and muses on more serious topics, such as class warfare, feminism, the cult of celebrity, and Kabbalah.

The series will be produced by 3 Ball Productions/Eyeworks USA, which also produces the NBC weight loss series "The Biggest Loser."
