SOUTH EL MONTE (CBS) — An off-duty Los Angeles County Sherriff’s deputy has been involved in a shooting on the 60 Freeway.
The incident happened around 2:40 p.m. Friday between Peck and Rosemead on the Pomona Freeway. Sheriff’s officials say a Hispanic man riding in a silver SUV was shot by the deputy. The deputy was not injured.
It’s unclear why gunfire was exchanged. The victim was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive.
The California Highway Patrol briefly shut down a portion of the Pomona Freeway to investigate. It was reopened around 3:40p.m.
