Friends Rally To Help Woman Who Lost Fiance In House Fire

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — On February 5th Kay Brownfield lost her fiance Hank Warren, her pets and her West Covina home to a devastating house fire.

Obviously, there is nothing that can replace her precious losses. But her friends and neighbors have come together in an outpouring of affection to try to help her heal.

As Edward Lawrence reports for CBS2 and KCAL9, it's a group effort involving Kay's friends, neighbors, customers...they have all opened up their hearts and their wallets.

As a flyer asking for donations put it, "Kay is going to need our emotional support. But she is also going to need money. Because tragedies don't clean themselves up. And lives don't magically get back on track."

Kay is a bartender at the Derby Restaurant in Arcadia and they're asking for in-house donations or asking the public to help out by going to any Wells Fargo branch and giving generously. The restaurant even plans to match any tips donated in the next 30 days.

The Wells Fargo account number is: 8098097028. The routing number is: 122000248.
