MONTEBELLO (AP) — A group of employees in the Montebello Unified School District have hit the jackpot. They won $12 million in Saturday’s SuperLotto Plus game.
The San Gabriel Valley Tribune says 11 employees in the district east of Los Angeles claimed the lottery prize on Tuesday.
The group, which includes full-time and part-time clerical workers, has been playing the lottery together for about two years. Group spokesman Ramone Solis says when the winning ticket was confirmed, the employees jumped around the office, screaming and celebrating.
The group will divide $7.1 million if they decide to taken an immediate cash payout instead of receiving the money over a number of years.
