Hit-And-Run Driver At Large After Rear-Ending LAPD Patrol Car
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver whose car rear-ended a Los Angeles Police Department patrol vehicle in the Mid-City area.
The officers were in a patrol car that was struck from behind on Fairfax Avenue near Whitworth Drive, a block south of Olympic Boulevard, about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, an LAPD watch commander said.
The officers were taken to a hospital as a precaution, but were not believed to be seriously hurt.
The suspect's Mitsubishi was found in the 3600 block of Carmona Avenue, a few blocks to the east. Police sealed off the area to search for the two men who had been inside.
The watch commander declined to name the car's registered owner.
A helicopter crew also searched the area. No immediate arrests were made.
