PASADENA (AP) — A prosecutor says a father who got drunk and left his 3-year-old son strapped in his car seat in a Pasadena parking garage for more than a day has pleaded no contest to public intoxication, child abuse and other charges.

Deputy District Attorney Carolina Lugo says Louie Kurihara was sentenced to one year each in county jail and a residential drug treatment program after entering his plea Wednesday. He also was ordered to serve five years of probation and undergo a year of parenting classes.

Authorities say Kurihara had taken his son to a wedding last October. He put the child in a car seat after leaving the reception then drove to a nearby parking garage and left him in the car.

A local man found the boy.

I’m just relieved the baby was found before he died of neglect. Shame on this father! He needs a few more years in jail for doing such an awful thing.

A son without his father for more than a year? That’s the way to handle people with serious problems. It may create a cause and effect or butterfly effect situation where the child will actually suffer somewhere down the line because the self-righteous and all knowing does all the wrong things to make a bad situation worse.

Excuse me, are you that stupid. Take him to jail and throw away the key. The kid is better off. Who knows how he will grow up with a parent like that.
