Looking For Romance? Get Out Of California And Definitely Avoid El Monte!

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Listen up all you single people…it’s not you, it’s California!

If you’re looking for romance, the Golden State is anything but the place to be.

According to Amazon.com, the least romantic city in the entire United States  —  underscore entire country —  is El Monte!

And don’t feel too bad El Monte…no California city even made the top 20. Sorta gives new meaning to the term, “I left my heart in San Francisco”…apparently everyone else has, too!

In other words, if you’re looking for love…move!

Before Valentine’s Day if you can help it!

Apparently Californians are good for sun worshipping, working out, eating sushi and finding great Mexican food…we love the beach, and our pets…and our children. And maybe not in that order.

But when it comes to romance, love and intimacy…well, we suck.

Amazon.com named “The Top 20 Most Romantic Cities In America” and we didn’t get any play.

They compiled the list in a curious way, to be fair. The company based their data on sales of romance novels, romantic comedies, relationship books, sexual wellness products and…of course, Barry White records!

Looking for romance? Move to Alexandria, Virginia. Knoxville, Tennessee came in second. Orlando and Miami came in third and fourth, respectively.

Following El Monte for least romantic was Paterson, New Jersey and Miami Gardens, Florida.

El Monte is full of thugs and gangsters!

    • chris

Yeah and the thugs & gangsters are lovin’ eachother.

  • lili

    Memories of el monte!!

  • Laughing in el monte

Well, we get our romance from telenovelas on telemundo and/or bootleg copies of everything else. (Piracy hardly lends itself towards statistical analysis, mi amor.)

wouldn’t high sales in romance novels and relationship books mean a lot more unsatisfied/lonely/single people???

I feel so sorry for all you in El Monte and South El Monte today, around 40 years ago we all felt safe there. We would walk the streets all night and never had problems. There were no shootings or killings, no home invasions or rapes. The big problems were finding out who ran the extra large female undies up the flag pole ! Take care all……….be safe !

    • Todd Bryant

@ Tim W.. I feel sorry for you feeling bad about the people in El Monte. Yes, El Monte has had its share of shootings, rapes, home invasions just like any other normal city circa 1990. Life 40 years ago is substantially different from now in any given city.

Anywho, your scenario of the “undies up the flag pole” is, lets say, OUTDATED. Those kind of pranks happened back in the 1950’s??

Tell me what city you stay reside in and I’ll paste a link to you about crime(s) that are taking place in your city. Guaranteed.

Cholos are fine. They put it down.
