Councilman Opposes Break For LA Stadium

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles City Councilman has introduced
a motion that would oppose any efforts by the developer of a downtown NFL stadium to seek relief from the state’s environmental review process.

Councilman Paul Krekorian said Tuesday that protecting the 64,000-seat venue proposed by AEG from lawsuits over its environmental impact report would weaken the council’s ability to review the project.

AEG president and CEO Tim Leiweke has said he hoped the city and state would cooperate on granting his firm such a break. State lawmakers granted an exemption in 2009 for a rival stadium proposal near Los Angeles that nullified a lawsuit over its environmental review.

State legislative leaders said last week that they would be against passing another such exemption.

    Build the Stadium in Valencia!

Sounds like someone wants the rival stadium project and not the AEG one. I think that the downtown venue is the best option for the city to get an NFL team.

A downtown stadium by AEG and their architects would be below NFL standards. And the Colissium would become a worthless asset to the city. All in all the city and the people of Los Angeles will suffer as Anshultz’s corporate asperations of owning and controlling Los Angeles must be stopped. Who made AEG the city leader? I know they give the council and mayor perk for their favors.
Make the colissium an amazing stadium that the city profits from , not AEG please.

what would Downtown LA look without AEG..God Forbid we have a downtown that tourists actually might want to visit

    build the damn stadium

The Coliseum should be torn down! Parking and traffic are terrible, the facilities are terrible and the neighborhood is unsafe. Plus, the NFL wants a stadium that can support 2 franchises……the colesium can’t even support USC!

AEG should be praised for their efforts Downtown….and encouraged to continue!

Aeg’s sweetheart deal in downtown los angeles is so flawed its ridiculus. P Anshultz gets all the bed tax for 35 years. Los angeles is not making any money down there. Plus Downtown is the most congested part of the city already. The tourist dollar down there all ends up in AEG’s hands. How much more of this city do you want this AEG to own. Please stop them. The structure will be inferior like all their venues.Look at Dallas’s stadium. you need way more space to build an NFL type stadium. AEG isn’t good enough.Terrible planning. It sucks at AEG plaza already
