Metro director Diane DuBois will be joined by Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe and other local officials Monday morning to warn commuters to avoid risky behavior like jaywalking across tracks or texting while driving.
Then dozens of motorcycle officers will fan out around the Blue Line tracks and begin citing errant motorists and pedestrians who don't pay attention to rail warning signs, flashing lights, crossing arms, and train horns. Fines average $450.
Metro says the massive traffic enforcement operation will focus on illegal left turn violators, jaywalkers and distracted drivers.
