Prisoner Serving Life Sentence Gets 157 Years For Slashing Guard

RIVERSIDE (AP) — A gang member already serving a life sentence has been given 157 years to life for slashing a guard’s neck at a Riverside jail.

Twenty-eight-year-old Jose Ageo Amaya was sentenced Friday. He was convicted last fall of attempted murder and other crimes.

Prosecutors say that in 2007, Amaya refused to get into a cell at the Robert Presley Detention Center, pulled a handmade “shank” knife from his pocket and slashed a guard.

Amaya was at the jail awaiting trial on charges that he stabbed a man three times in the back during a 2004 carjacking. He was convicted of attempted murder in that case and is serving a life sentence.

Cant we just gas this guy and get it over with? The man does not belong in society, obviosuly has nothing to live for. Let’s send him to iraq

  2. c says:

That would be nice and add some more with him as well, but there are to many liberals in this state… its to bad

  3. Gzay says:

    Ray is correct🙂

  4. citrus says:

you mean “liberals” who believe in the Unite States Constitution and its prohibition of cruel and unusual punishment? are those the “liberals” to which you are referring?

    1. Duh! says:

I believe those are the liberals he is talking about, as they are against cruel and unusual punishment because they are planning on committing crimes. They are trying to make it easier on themselves when they go to prison. If you weren’t planning on committing crimes, you could care less what happens to a criminal in jail.

  5. SMH says:

boy that sentence will make him not want to do it again…

  9. c says:

It would save million of dollars

  10. jesus christ says:

There is the option of giving him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe that guard sucked? Who knows.

  11. Joe says:

This case cries out for the death penalty. This animal should be put down. Why use my tax dollars to feed and clothe and house him? Just take one shot to the brain and cremate the body. Really simple for this one.

  12. James says:

When you talk about taking a criminal and putting him in the military, you’re showing disrespect to those young men and women who sign up for the military. You’re basically saying that all it takes to qualify for the military is a murderous, psychopathic personality. I hope you see why many servicemen and women would find such a suggestion offensive.

  13. Ricky says:

@ James you are correct but I don’t think anybody meant any disrepect for the men and women who serve in our armed forces I have a nephew who resently enlisted but I tell one thing it would be nice to use them lowlife prisoners like this guy as human shields in the field as when there is a presence of sniper’s boobie trap’s land mines I think you get the Idea.

  14. duh says:

The sentence means absolutely NOTHING. In his world (prison), he just upgraded his credibility by about 2000%. I’m sure society wouldn’t agree to the death penalty for slashing a guard (who lived), but certainly some sort of solitary confinement or loss of all ‘usual’ privileges (whatever that may be at his prison). To just simply toss him back in with his upgraded cred is absurd. He was rewarded, not punished.

  15. Carlos says:

I grew up with this guy, hes no assasin, murderere, or a agressive person, if theres someone to blame, is hes pops.
