LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Laker great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar says he’s now 100 percent cancer free.
Abdul-Jabbar, who revealed he was battling a form of blood cancer in November 2009, took to Twitter to make the announcement.
“re my medical condition, I am 100% cancer free!!” he tweeted excitedly Friday morning.
Abdul-Jabbar, 63, was diagnosed chronic myeloid leukemia in December 2008.
Abdul-Jabbar is best known as the 7-foot-2 center with the famous sky hook who helped the Lakers win five championships before he retired in 1989.
