CSU Launches Website For Taxpayers To Report Wasteful Spending

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A new website encourages whistleblowers to report questionable spending at California State University campuses.

KNX 1070's Ron Kilgore reports the project is the brainchild of the California Faculty Association.

CFA president Lillian Taiz says the website is already getting feedback, and she plans to make a list of questionable expenditures and present to the chancellor's office.

The state university system continues to slash student programs and services amid an ongoing budget crisis, targeting such lavish spending as "car allowances" of $12,000 annually, along with cracking down on a former university president who earned as much as $200,000 a year moonlighting on other jobs before retiring.

Taillez says in these tough economic times, trustees need to be held accountable for every nickel.
