Cheers! 180 Involved In Northern California Bar Brawl

EMERYVILLE (AP) —  A bar brawl in Emeryville grew into a riot early Friday, with dozens of people spilling into the streets and drawing more than 30 police officers to the scene.

The fight started shortly before 1:30 a.m. at Kitty's Bar, where guards reported a group of patrons with knives and guns. When police arrived, officers saw as many as 180 people fighting with bottles and other weapons and called for backup.

Police from Oakland, Berkeley and UC Berkeley departments as well as the California Highway Patrol arrived to help break up the brawl.

Sgt. Fred Dauer says two people were arrested on suspicion of obstructing an officer. Three officers suffered minor injuries.

Despite the initial gun sightings, police say there were no reports of shots fired. Officers also did not locate anyone with major injuries.
