LYNWOOD (CBS) — One person is dead and another was hospitalized with burn injuries after an apartment fire in Lynwood, authorities said.

The fire was reported at 3:36 a.m. in the 12500 block of Long Beach Boulevard, near Palm Avenue, Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

People gathered at the scene said the building was considered abandoned, but it was still used by transients.
