Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (February 2)

STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Of course, the big story today is winds for Southern California. A wind warning is now in effect for much of our valley and mountain areas.

We are expecting the worst of this event this morning and early this afternoon. Wind speeds in excess of 60 mph can be expected in some spots.

The worst of it, so far, has been at the 10 and 15 freeways, the Santa Clarita Valley and in Malibu.

A high in the Great Basin is the engine behind these winds. The winds relax for Thursday and as the cold air in the desert southwest drifts to the east… we will experience some better warming.

Temperatures will top out in the mid to upper 70s for the weekend. No rain will be in the forecast for the next nine to 10 days.

Coastal - low 60s
Basin - mid 60s
Valleys - low 60s
Deserts - upper 50s
Mountains - low 40s
