DUARTE (CBS) — The driver of a silver Mercedes-Benz was killed Saturday after rear-ending a pickup truck on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Duarte.
The crash claimed the life of 33-year-old Jerry Ruiz of La Verne. It was reported at 6:41 a.m. just east of Buena Vista Street.
“The driver in the Mercedes died instantly. He was the lone occupant in the vehicle,” CHP Ed Jacobs said.
The driver of the other vehicle, identified as 65-year-old Gary C. Toy of Sierra Madre, suffered only minor injuries, according to the CHP.
Jacobs said it did not appear that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
