PASADENA (CBS) — A woman in a motorized wheelchair was killed after being struck by a car in Pasadena Thursday.
The crash occurred about 6:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue, said Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department.
The car ran over the woman before hitting a gas line and plowing into a wall, Derderian said.
Officers responding to the accident found the woman pinned underneath the car and pronounced her dead.
Derderian said a gas line was compromised as a result of the crash, and crews were called to evaluate the situation.
The male driver was not injured, said Derderian, and the cause of the crash remained under investigation.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash and one driver fled the scene.
Streets were blocked off in the area and expected to remain closed during the investigation, Derderian said.
