Man Suspected Of Harassing Kids In Calabasas, Hidden Hills

CALABASAS (CBS) — A man who harassed a 10-year-old boy last week in Hidden Hills is believed to have approached an 11-year-old girl this week in a gated community in Calabasas.

The girl was walking home Wednesday afternoon from a park in The Oaks when the suspect drove up in a red Nissan Titan, sheriff's Detective Matt Dunn said. The suspect drove alongside the girl and told her he was asked by her mother to pick her up and give her a ride.

The girl ran down the street and hid in nearby bushes. The suspect drove away, and the girl quickly went home and told her parents about the incident, Dunn said.

The same suspect is also believed to have followed a boy walking home from elementary school while driving a white Chevrolet van with a yellowish ladder on top, Dunn said. The suspect also told the boy in that incident that he was sent by his mother to pick him up.

The boy ignored the suspect and kept walking, so the suspect drove away. The boy reported the incident to his father as soon as he got home, Dunn said.

"We don't know for certain what the intentions of the suspect are, but his actions cause considerable concern," Dunn said in a statement, adding that detectives want to question the man.

Children are on the alert and are being careful to walk in groups.
