2 Men Try To Snatch Girl In Santa Monica

SANTA MONICA (CBS) — Police say two men are at large after trying to kidnap a girl in Santa Monica.

The attempted kidnapping happened about 8:20 a.m. Monday as the girl was walking in the 3100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Santa Monica police Sgt. Jay Trisler said.

The girl, whose age was not released, was approached by a white man who tried to talk to her, Trisler said.

The girl, who noticed another male in the driver's seat of a nearby car, ignored the suspect, who "suddenly grabbed the victim and began pulling her into the street to the awaiting vehicle," the sergeant said.

The girl broke away and ran to the New Roads School and told school officials what happened. The school officials contacted police, Trisler said.

The man who grabbed her was described as 1/2 white, in his 20s, 5 feet 8 inches tall with a slim build. He wore a gray sweatshirt, light blue jeans and tennis shoes and made his getaway in a black four-door sedan with tinted windows.
