LAX Police On Heightened Alert After Deadly Moscow Bombing

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Los Angeles Airport Police were on "heightened alert" Tuesday after a suicide bombing that killed at least 35 people at Moscow's busiest airport.

"The LAX police (department) has stepped up its own levels of vigilance," Marshall McClain, president of the Los Angeles Airport Peace Officers Association, said in a statement.

The terrorist bombing that rocked Moscow's busiest airport Monday killed at lest 35 people and wounded 180 people.

McClain also cited the recent spate of shootings at U.S. law enforcement officers, including two officers killed in Florida.

The LAX Police represents more than 425 sworn police officers and firefighters at LAX, Ontario International Airport and Van Nuys Airport.
