CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Fox Sports chairman David Hill says he thinks NASCAR races are too long and would like to see them cut down to run during a three-hour window.

Hill says Monday night that NASCAR recognizes it needs to make changes to stop its current slide in both attendance and television ratings.

He says that NASCAR chairman Brian France is “really trying very hard” to find solutions, but nothing will happen overnight.

Hill believes there are simply too many entertainment options to hold a fan’s interest over the length of an entire race.

Fox has three years remaining on its television deal with NASCAR, and Hill says it’s too soon to tell if the network will renew.

Fox holds the rights to 13 of the 38 annual NASCAR races. The season is split between three broadcast partners.
