RUBIDOUX (CBS) — Authorities say a beer run was foiled by a pair of Riverside County sheriff’s volunteers.

Late Saturday night, two volunteers with the Jurupa Valley Citizens’ Patrol saw two people bolt out of a convenience store carrying four 18 packs of beer, sheriff’s Sgt. Red Heard said.

The volunteers watched as the pair jumped into a waiting vehicle parked nearby, stopping the getaway car a couple of blocks away, Heard said.

One suspect fled during the traffic stop. However, the other two suspects were identified by the store clerk.

Remijo Sotero, 31, and Richard Ante-Torres, 20, both of Rubidoux were arrested on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy. A teenage boy was also arrested and later released to his parents, Heard said.
