1 Killed During Early Morning Shooting In Rampart Division

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A pair of separate shootings about the same time early Monday in the Los Angeles Police Department's Rampart Division left one man dead and another injured.

Investigators are trying to determine if the two shootings, which both occurred about 5 a.m., are related.

The first shooting erupted from an argument between two men at Valencia and Sixth Streets, LAPD Lt. West Burmester said. One man was killed.

At about the same time, police were called to Third Street and Westlake Avenue, where a man was suffering a gunshot wound in the arm, Burmester said. The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The victims' names were not released.
