Texting May Have Caused Accident On 210 Freeway

LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE (CBS) — A 22-year-old driver involved in a crash on the Foothill (210) Freeway apparently sent a text message at some point before the accident.

The vehicle swerved across the westbound lanes before hitting the center divider and overturning just east of Foothill Boulevard shortly before 1:50 a.m. Saturday, CHP Officer Ed Jacobs said.

According to authorities, the driver had sent a message at some point before the accident, but had not responded to the reply text.

The driver was taken Huntington Memorial Hospital with major head trauma.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. It is still unclear if texting was the cause of the crash.
