VICTORVILLE (AP) — Prison officials say guards moved quickly to quell a disturbance at the federal correctional institution in San Bernardino County that left five inmates injured.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons says multiple fights between several inmates broke out Friday evening at the medium security facility in Victorville.
Five inmates were transported to local hospitals to be treated for injuries. No staff members were injured.
The institution was placed on lock down status pending an investigation.
The medium security institution holds over 1,200 inmates. It is one of four facilities at the Federal Correctional Complex in Victorville.
