Wrong-Way Driver Charged In Anaheim Double Fatal Crash
SANTA ANA (AP) — A wrong-way driver has been charged with killing a Southern California couple in a head-on freeway crash.
Orange County prosecutors on Thursday charged 21-year-old Louis Fragoso with two felony counts of vehicular manslaughter with a great bodily injury enhancement that could lead to nine years in prison if he's convicted.
Prosecutors want bail set at $150,000 when the South Gate man, who is hospitalized, is arraigned. There is no date for arraignment.
Fragoso was behind the wheel of a white Mercedes-Benz that slammed into a Toyota Scion just before 1 a.m. Wednesday in the eastbound lanes of State Route 91, the Riverside Freeway, in Anaheim. The Mercedes was traveling the wrong-way on the freeway.
The Scion driver, 25-year-old Alan Reyes, and his passenger, 24-year-old Vanessa Cease, were killed.
