Wrong-Way Driver Charged In Anaheim Double Fatal Crash

SANTA ANA (AP) — A wrong-way driver has been charged with killing a Southern California couple in a head-on freeway crash.

Orange County prosecutors on Thursday charged 21-year-old Louis Fragoso with two felony counts of vehicular manslaughter with a great bodily injury enhancement that could lead to nine years in prison if he’s convicted.

Prosecutors want bail set at $150,000 when the South Gate man, who is hospitalized, is arraigned. There is no date for arraignment.

Fragoso was behind the wheel of a white Mercedes-Benz that slammed into a Toyota Scion just before 1 a.m. Wednesday in the eastbound lanes of State Route 91, the Riverside Freeway, in Anaheim. The Mercedes was traveling the wrong-way on the freeway.

The Scion driver, 25-year-old Alan Reyes, and his passenger, 24-year-old Vanessa Cease, were killed.

I agree. This drunk fool should get 20 years or more. How can anybody, even if they’re drunk, go on the freeway the wrong way!! That is just sheer non-human stupidity beyond belief! I actually can’t think of anything more stupid that anyone can do in their lives, especially when it kills innocent people. Lock him up and throw the key away!

If I remember the article details, he was in THE CARPOOL LANE. How drunk do you have to be to not notice that the carpool guardrail is now mysteriously on the PASSENGER side of the car?? It will be interesting to know what his BAL was. We already have his IQ.

Only nine years for killing two people? How many lives did this drunk ruin? All the families, the moms, the dads, the children, the friends, It’s unbelievable that someone who has destroyed the lives of all these people will only do 9 years in prison. Just not right.

Ed, Vanessa was my friend, a mother, daughter and a beautiful person… you should be ashamed of yourself. This was a tragic accident, and has devastated so many lives…. your reckless comments should not be taken so lightly.

He was obviously drunk…no sober person would drive on the wring side of the freeway. The selfish pig deserves to spend the rest of his miserable life in jail. 9 years is a slap on the wrist, especially for all the lives he ruined. This makes me furious. A little girl has to grow up without a mother just because some lowlife couldn’t find a ride home.

Also, if you need proof he was drunk go check out his myspace. His nickname on it is “beer”….
