LONG BEACH (CBS) — A 19-month-old girl was struck by a car and critically injured today in Long Beach, a city fire official said.
The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of Rogers Street, said Steve Yamamoto of the Long Beach Fire Department.
Rescuers arriving on the scene said the toddler did not have a pulse and was not breathing before they started CPR, Yamamoto said.
The girl had sustained “major trauma” and was rushed to a nearby pediatric hospital, Yamamoto said. She is listed in critical condition.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
