Rick Alan Gonzales, 57, is living in the 22600 block of Greenwood Avenue, a few blocks away from Hickory Elementary, 2800 W. 227th St., the Torrance Police Department reported.

Gonzales served a 26-year sentence on multiple rape and robbery charges in two separate cases, and registered with police on Monday, the police department reported. He is not on parole.

According to police, in 1982 in Riverside County, Gonzales raped a 13-year-old runaway girl after kidnapping her, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

In 1985, while out on bond from his prior arrest, Gonzales broke into an elderly woman's home, where he raped and robbed her at gunpoint.

Gonzales told the victim he had a police scanner in his vehicle, and that he would come back and kill her if he heard officers were dispatched to her residence.

Police say they hope this information will allow members of the public to protect themselves and their children from sex offenders.
