Man Pleads Not Guilty To Stealing From Church Donations
GLENDALE (AP) — A 52-year-old Los Angeles man has pleaded not guilty to stealing from donation boxes at a pair of Catholic churches.
Peter Manuel Galindro entered the plea Wednesday to two counts of burglary stemming from the thefts last year at Holy Family Catholic Church in Glendale and St. Finbar's Catholic Church in Burbank. The dollar amount of the thefts is uncertain.
Police say the donation boxes included money for Haitian relief efforts.
Galindro is scheduled to return to court Jan. 24. He could face more than eight years in prison if convicted.
The criminal complaint against Galindro says he was convicted of theft five times between 1990 and 2008.
