2 Men Hurt In Whittier Propane Tank Explosion

WHITTIER (AP) — A gas explosion in a Los Angeles suburb has burned and injured two men, including one who lost part of his leg.

Los Angeles County fire Inspector Matt Levesque says a propane tank in a detached Whittier garage exploded around 2:45 a.m. Monday.

There was no fire but police Lt. Wyatt Powell tells City News Service that the explosion blew to door off of the garage, severed the lower leg of a man in his 20s and burned another man's lower body.

They were taken to a hospital and there's no immediate word on their conditions.
