Loud Boom Reported In North Hollywood

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — It wasn't a bird, a plane or even Superman.

But some residents of North Hollywood were rattled nonetheless Monday evening by a loud explosion.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, some Mylar balloons became entangled in some power lines in the 6200 block of Riverton Avenue.

The balloons caused a flash and a loud boom heard across a wide stretch of North Hollywood, according to LAFD Captain Tom Sammartano.

The explosion was heard just before 10 p.m.

No injuries or major damage was reported.
