LA Impounds Mobile Billboards Under New Law
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — City officials aren't wasting any time enforcing a new law that targets mobile billboards.
In West Hills, a tow truck hauled away a detached trailer that had a gold jewelry advertising sign on it — the ninth advertising trailer impounded since the state law took effect on Jan. 1.
KNX 1070's John Brooks reports Councilman Dennis Zine says it will improve both safety and the quality of life.
Critics say the crackdown potentially infringes on free speech, but motorists are allowed to tow a sign around all day — it's unhitching and parking the sign that is now illegal.
