Inmate Dies A Day After Booking In OC Jail

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — An inmate was found dead in her Orange County jail cell less than a day after her arrest on suspicion of drug possession.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department reported Monday that 46-year-old Cynthia Kaye Drury was found unresponsive in a single-person cell in Santa Ana on New Year’s Eve.

The department says the Norwalk woman was arrested a day earlier by Anaheim police on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

The cause of death was not immediately reported. A message seeking comment was left with the Sheriff’s Department.

A message was left with the district attorney’s office, which is investigating the death.

    Come on people…this one is easy…everyone knows how vicious the orange county deputies are against inmates…most of those deputies should be charged with assult crimes !!!!

      Are you kidding me Hollywood saint?! Ridiculous ignorant comment. She was arrested for suspicion of drugs. Right before the police arrested her she probably threw whatever she had on her down her throat. (I might watch too many movies :-))
