Driver Killed In Crash On 605 Freeway In Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBS) — A pickup truck driver was killed when he crashed into a big rig on the shoulder of the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway.

The accident, which occurred about 9 p.m. Saturday, took place near Wardlow Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver was reportedly thrown from the truck, which caught fire, a CHP officer told a videographer at the scene. Two lanes were closed in the area as late as midnight.

    This guy was tailing me. I saw it happen in my rear view mirror. The guy was drunk swerving all over the place and slowing down and speeding up. He hit the back of that big rig at about 80MPH
