Courts, Many Government Offices Closed Friday For New Year's Holiday

LOS ANGELES (CBS)  — Courts and most government offices will be closed Friday in observance of the New Year's holiday.

Trash will be collected as usual in the city of Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation.

Metro buses and rail lines will operate on regular weekday schedules. Rail lines and the Metro Orange Line busway will operate all night, into Saturday. All Metro service will be free between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m.

Specific schedules for bus lines can be found on the MTA's Web site at www.mta.net. Normal operations will resume Saturday.

Metrolink will provide service on only the Antelope Valley and San Bernardino lines. The Antelope Valley line will operate on a Saturday schedule, while the San Bernardino line will run on a Sunday schedule.

The following Foothill Transit lines will be operated on their weekend schedules: 178, 185, 187, 195, 197, 269, 272, 274, 280, 281, 284, 285, 286, 289, 291, 480, 482, 486, 488, 492 and the Silver Streak. No other Foothill Transit lines will be in operation.
