Police Release Claremont Man Allegedly Seen Dragging Body

CLAREMONT (AP) — Police investigating a man who was seen dragging a body through a Claremont field been unable to determine whether a homicide occurred.

The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin reports that the man was arrested on suspicion of homicide but later released without charge. He was spotted with the body Monday evening.

Claremont police Lt. Shelly Vander Veen says both the deceased man and the person pulling his body were transients, though they did not know each other.

The dead man's identity was not released, pending an investigation by the coroner's office.
