Train Hits Car, Kills Motorist In Riverside County

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — A motorist was killed when a freight train struck a car at a crossing in Riverside.

Police Lt. Andy Flores tells the Press-Enterprise that the elderly woman was driving along Spruce Street during the Monday morning commute when the train struck her Pontiac Sunbird.

The victim was not immediately identified.

Metrolink commuter service between Riverside and Orange County was disrupted.
