Major Storm Back East Leading To Many Travel Delays Out West

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A major winter storm on the East Coast is causing major delays and cancelations in travel on the West Coast.

Some flights from Southern California headed East are being delayed or canceled due to a blizzard that has also forced the temporary closure of many airports in the Northeast.

Delta, American, Alaska and Jet Blue are among the airlines with flights from Los Angeles International Airport that were delayed or canceled tonight due to inclement weather and airport closures in the Northeast, according to the Los Angeles World Airports flight information site.

JFK International in New York, Newark International and Bradley International in Connecticut are among the airports closed until at least Monday morning. Caldwell Wright Airport in Essex County, New Jersey is expected to be shut down until Monday night.

The storm, dumping more than a foot of snow in New York, Philadelphia, Boston and other cities has also caused the disruption and cancelation of many train schedules, as well.
