Motorcycle Show Rolls Into Long Beach

By Erik Oginski

LONG BEACH (CBS) — The Long Beach Convention Center will be doubling as nirvana for motorcycle enthusiasts this weekend, as hundreds bikes and gear will be on display at the Progressive International Motorcycles shows nationwide tour.

The show caters to riders of all flavors with the very latest street bikes, cruisers, dirt bikes, scooters, ATVs and more. Most major manufactures will be in attendance, including Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Harley-Davidson, Triumph, Victory and Star.

In addition to the factory bikes, custom motorcycle builders will be displaying their latest creations and vying for a part of a $90,000 prize purse in a people's-choice competition. Their bikes, which can be better described as moving artwork, will be displayed on oval platforms lining the major corridors of the show floor.

Show goers will also get to see live performances from Jason Britton's Team No Limit Stunt Show. The show includes a surreal display of wheelies, stoppies, burnouts and lots of other harrowing tricks that should not be tried at home. A heavy rain on Friday evening could not dampen Britton and his team, only severing to make the show (and stunters) seem all the crazier.

Other highlights include appearances by MotoGP stars Nicky Hayden and Ben Spies; actor Tom Arnold on Sunday; and "Survivor's" Rupert Boneham, who will be representing his charity -- Rupert's Kids.

"Cycle World" has again teamed up with Ride For Kids to raffle off a bike in support of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Raffle tickets for the bike, a CBR1000RR donated by Honda and customized by Gregg's Customs, can be purchased at the show or online.

The show is open to the public and runs through Sunday, December 18, 2010 at the Long Beach Convention Center.
