Menifee Man Accidentally Shoots Himself, Toddler Son

MENIFEE (CBS)  — A Menifee man accidentally shot himself and his toddler son while testing a new holster for his gun, sheriff’s deputies said Saturday.

Both the man and the toddler survived.

The unidentified 27-year-old man was trying out the holster last night when the automatic 45-caliber semi-automatic handgun discharged, said Sgt. Scott Forbes. The bullet passed through the father’s leg and into the hand of his two year old son, who was playing nearby.

Both were taken by a family member to Menifee Valley Medical Center and treated for their injuries, said Forbes.

No arrest was made and the incident is under investigation.
