The wanted man is identified as Gregory Scott Turner, a 33-year-old criminology student.

Police say he tried to strangle his wife during a violent confrontation in their Verano Place apartment.

Campus police say when they arrived on scene after responding to a domestic violence call, they found Mrs. Turner had been beaten into unconsiousness.

Police are looking for the man last seen driving a 2006 blue Chevy truck. The license plate is 8P53538.

UCI spokesperson said the suspect’s wife is in a hospital recovering.

The couple has two children, girls aged 7 and 5. They were in the apartment during the attack but not physically harmed, according to authorities.

Kara Finnstrom, reporting for KCAL 9 News, says the couple’s 7-year-old daughter is the one who placed the 911 to get help for her mother.

The children have been placed in the care of child protective services.

The school spokesperson added that Turner is believed to be suicidal.
