Chargers Still Alive In Chase For AFC West Title
SAN DIEGO (AP)—The San Diego Chargers know that their 31-0 win over AFC West leader Kansas City means only that their hopes of winning the division remain alive at least until their next game.
That next game gets here a lot quicker than normal. The Chargers (7-6) will play host on Thursday to the San Francisco 49ers, who at 5-8 still have a chance to win the awful NFC West.
Quarterback Philip Rivers says the only thing the Chargers can control is winning their games. The Chargers pulled within one game of the Chiefs (8-5), who played without quarterback Matt Cassel.
The Chargers turned in one of their best defensive performances, holding the Chiefs to 67 yards in total offense.
